Choosing a Weightloss Goal

When I first set my goal weight I chose 155 pounds, which called for a 30 pound weight loss. I chose that number based on the last time that I felt good about my body. I wasn't thin, but I was solid and didn't have a lot of fluff around my midsection. And yes, it's fluff, not fat!

So I happily continued on my journey until one day when I was playing around with the BMI calculator. It said that I would have to lose another 10 pounds to be in a healthy weight range. And that is on the very high end of the healthy weight range. What's a girl to do?

I've decided that I'm going to pursue my original goal of 30lbs and then go from there. I really don't think that BMI takes enough factors into consideration so I am shifting my focus to my body fat percentage instead. And as of this mornings weigh-in I am halfway to my goal weight!!!

I wrapped up week 5 of my half marathon training program and everything is going well. I have logged 54.54 miles since December 15th, 17 of them this week alone! Time is flying by and the Disney Princess Half Marathon will be here before I know it.

I have a weight loss goal in mind and it is no where near all those charts. If I were to go along with those charts, I would look like a crack head and thats not cute, I think going by the body fat percentage is a good idea. Also if you are doing weight training keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat! Congrats on being halfway there!
